Terms & Conditions

Terms and conditions must be accepted by all students, parents or guardians, no more than 2 weeks after enrolment.

Section 1 - Fee Payment

  • Fees are payable in full at the start of every term, unless agreed otherwise with Mrs Ellis.  Half Termly options are available at a slightly higher cost.

  • Fees must be received by the end of week 2 of the term or a 10% surcharge may be added.

  • A student may take their first class as a free trial. Should the student decide to join the class, they then pay the balance of the term remaining, unless agreed otherwise.

  • If a student knows they will be missing a class, a deduction of up to 2 classes may be taken per term and 1 per half term.  Classes will not be deducted for sickness, unless a long term sickness or injury means the child is unable to attend for a long period of time.

  • If a class is cancelled, it will be rescheduled. If it is not possible to reschedule, fees will be subtracted from the forthcoming terms fees.

  • If it is necessary to cancel a class due to adverse weather conditions, class fees will not be refunded.

  • Invoices can be paid via bank transfer, cash or cheque.  Cheques should be made payable to Mrs C Ellis.  Please email Mrs Ellis when you have made payment and give the last 4 digits of your account and the account name it was paid from.

  • All monies paid in cash must be received in a sealed envelope with student's name; amount enclosed and invoice number, clearly written on the front.

  • Fees for exams must be returned by the deadline on the invoice.  Once you have confirmed you want your child to take the exam, you must pay the fees for the exam, even if your child decides they do not want to take the exam.  Please make sure you are able to make the exam when the date has been confirmed, otherwise you will have to pay for the exam if you can't make that date.

  • If a student no longer wants to return, you must give Mrs Ellis half a term's notice.  Fees will not be refunded.

Section 2 - Uniform

  • Students in Pre-School classes, Little Stars and Little Diamonds classes should wear suitable clothing to dance around in.  Nothing too loose.  If they can’t wear ballet shoes, they should be bare footed.

  • All students from Pre-Primary upwards should wear the ISTD Sapphire Blue uniform, either ballet socks or tights and ballet shoes with elastic.

  • All students must wear their hair in a bun for all classes with fringes clipped out of their face. Students with short hair should wear an 'Alice' band to keep their hair off their face.

  • If a student is wearing inappropriate footwear or clothing they will not be permitted to participate in the class.

  • Jewellery items (including watches), which the teacher feels may cause injury or feels inappropriate for the class, must be removed.

Section 3 - Classes / Exams

  • Some classes run back to back on the timetable without a break. Students should be dressed ready to start their class before entering the studio and leave promptly at the end.

  • Students are asked to wait quietly outside the studio until their class begins.

  • Exams will run throughout the year on ad hoc days. Students will only be entered when they have reached the required standard decided by the teacher.

Section 4 - Conduct

  • Parents or guardians of the Little Stars classes (2yrs) are to be in the studio with their child.  It is preferable that only 1 parent or guardian attends with the child.  If a parent or guardian feels they need to join in to encourage their child this is absolutely fine.  If they feel the child is better off without them in the studio, then it’s fine to leave them too.   Parents / guardians must keep noise levels at a minimum.

  • In all other classes, parents are not permitted to watch classes except in during “Watching Week” which is just before the half term break and at the end of each term.  On occasion watching may be permitted at Mrs Ellis’s discretion.  Parents are asked to keep noise to a minimum during “Watching Week” so as not to distract the students dancing.

  • Students are expected to demonstrate respectful behaviour towards their teacher and fellow students.

  • Students are responsible for their own property and bring items to class at their own risk.

  • Students from the Little Diamonds class and upwards must make sure they go to the toilet before their class.  Parents must be aware that if a child needs to go during the class and they are not there to take them, they will be asked to wait until someone gets back.  On occasion, Mrs Ellis may allow a child to go with someone who is DBS checked and that whom she trusts.  She will not allow a child to go unaccompanied unless they are of school age and even then, she will make sure that another parent or guardian will keep an eye on them going in and out of the bathroom.

  • If a student is unable to attend class due to illness / injury, the teacher must be notified by text / email in advance.

  • One month’s written notice to Mrs Ellis is required for any student wishing to discontinue any class or leave the school.

Section 4 - Miscellaneous

  • Invoices will be sent via email with the new term dates at the end of each term or during the holidays. Parents / guardians should provide a valid email address for this purpose, and ensure that such email from Twinkle Toes Academy is not considered spam.

  • The school timetable may be revised at any time.

  • The school is affiliated to The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).

  • A certain amount of risk is carried by any physical activity. Students taking part in any classes or events run by Twinkle Toes Academy do so at their own risk.

  • Photographs and videos of students may be taken and used for promotion and on social media unless permission hasn’t been granted on the registration form.
